Cardiac Physiotherapy at Mount Merrion Community Centre, North Ave, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin
Classes run on Mondays at 4pm and 5.30pm
You can be referred into this class by your GP or your cardiac rehabilitation team. If you have not attended a cardiac rehabilitation programme you will require an assessment.
This involves completing a fitness test and exploring your risk factors for heart disease.
What happens in the class?
In each class your blood pressure and heart rate will be checked.
You will then wear a heart rate monitor.
A 15 minute warmup will be completed to gradually increase in your heart rate.
You will complete 6 circuits combining both aerobic and weigh training. With this type of training you can optimise your benefit from exercise training.
This will be followed by a cool down of 10 minutes.
After the cool down you will have your blood pressure and heart rate rechecked.
When you have an appointment with your cardiologist or GP we will send a progress report.
As this is a physiotherapy based programme we are able to optimise your cardiac performance without causing injury.
